FBR Sets Up Two Check Posts on AJK Border to Stop Tax-Free Goods

| 28-Nov-2025

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has slammed two new check posts right on the Azad Jammu & Kashmir border to intercept vehicles smuggling goods from tax-exempt zones, per SRO 2185(I)/2025 issued Thursday. One post locks down Kohala Bridge (Muzaffarabad → Murree/Abbottabad route), the second seals Nakoder (Dina) on Mangla Road toward Jhelum. Under Rule 69F Sales Tax Rules 2006, every truck must now carry bulletproof documentation — Inland Revenue inspectors are empowered to stop, search, and seize if papers don’t match the cargo. FBR just declared open season on tax-evading consignments from AJK.
