LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has unleashed a new Investigation and Intelligence Wing to hunt down tax evaders and non-compliant businesses, a decision sealed in a Tuesday meeting chaired by Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra. The restructuring blitz targets efficiency overhaul — the wing will tighten the noose on defaulters, while a Large Taxpayer Unit gears up for January 2026 launch. Sipra ordered new units formed this month to supercharge enforcement officers and commanded commissioners to hit registration targets in 11 sectors (hotels, restaurants top list) by December end. Farmhouses and unregistered businesses got a chilling ultimatum: pay up or get sealed. Daily reviews of taxpayer growth, revenue, and cases mandated, with pending court battles to be crushed fast. PRA’s reform storm aims to lock tax compliance province-wide and end revenue bleed.
