FBR Suspends 6 Officials Absent from Sugar Mill Duty

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended six officials after they were caught red-handed absent from their critical monitoring posts at sugar mills, officials revealed on Monday. Deployed under Section 40B of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 to track production and enforce tax compliance, the officials’ unauthorized absence was exposed during routine checks by Large Tax Office (LTO) Lahore. The breach sparked alarm over monitoring failures at sugar mills, triggering immediate suspension and recommendations for formal disciplinary action under service rules. FBR has ordered field units to lock down attendance and obey deployment, warning negligence will face harsh consequences.
