FBR Invites Proposals for Tax Reforms in Budget 2025-26

| 09-Jan-2025

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has begun the process of drafting tax policies for the 2025-26 budget, inviting proposals from stakeholders to improve tax reforms and streamline procedures. The FBR has set January 31 as the deadline for receiving suggestions for the Finance Bill 2025, with an emphasis on broadening the tax base, promoting progressive taxation, and eliminating procedural inefficiencies. Income tax, sales tax, and federal excise duty are the key focus areas for input. Stakeholders are encouraged to suggest measures for integrating businesses into the general sales tax (GST) system and reducing tax arbitrage. Additionally, the Ministry of Commerce is seeking tariff-related proposals, with a deadline of February 15
