K-Electric Limited has notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange that the Governor of Sindh has annulled an order previously issued by the Provincial Ombudsman, Sindh, against the company’s Chief Executive Officer in relation to a workplace harassment complaint.
In its disclosure submitted on Tuesday, the power utility stated that the decision was rendered by the Governor of Sindh under Section 9 of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010, following consideration of submissions made by the concerned parties and examination of the available record.
“We hereby inform that the Hon’ble Governor of Sindh, in exercise of powers vested under Section 9 of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 (as amended from time to time), after hearing the arguments advanced by the parties and perusing the relevant material on record, has passed a decision setting aside the order issued by the Provincial Ombudsman, Sindh, dated July 31, 2025,” K-Electric stated in its notice to the exchange.
The development arises from an order passed by the Provincial Ombudsman on July 31, 2025, pursuant to a complaint lodged by a former employee of K-Electric against two employees and a former director of the company. The order had further attributed responsibility to K-Electric’s Chief Executive Officer, Syed Moonis Alvi, directing his removal from office and imposing a monetary penalty of Rs2.5 million.
Subsequent to the ombudsman’s findings, Alvi assailed the order before the Sindh High Court on the grounds that it was inconsistent with the factual matrix of the case. The High Court thereafter suspended the operation of the impugned order and granted interim relief to the CEO, pending adjudication.
K-Electric further disclosed that Alvi had also preferred a representation before the Governor of Sindh, the competent appellate authority under the applicable legal framework, for challenging orders passed by the Provincial Ombudsman.
As per the disclosure, the Governor of Sindh has now accepted the appeal and formally set aside the Provincial Ombudsman’s order dated July 31, 2025.
The company stated that the disclosure was being issued in continuation of its earlier submission dated August 1, 2025, in compliance with the Securities Act, 2015 and the applicable rules of the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
