PTML Secures 180 MHz Spectrum in Pakistan’s 5G Auction

Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), a fully owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited and the operator behind the Ufone 4G brand, has successfully obtained 180 MHz of spectrum in Pakistan’s latest 5G auction.

In a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday, PTCL confirmed that the spectrum was secured during the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) / 5G auction organized by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on March 10.

The filing revealed that PTML acquired 60 MHz in the 2600 MHz frequency band along with 120 MHz in the 3500 MHz band, resulting in a combined spectrum allocation of 180 MHz.

The assignment phase of the auction concluded on March 12, during which PTML competed to secure precise frequency slots within both bands through a bidding process.

The overall cost of the spectrum purchase amounted to $156.75 million.

PTCL further stated that PTML will proceed to finalize the NGMS/5G licence agreement with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority once all necessary regulatory procedures are completed.

After the licensing formalities are finalized, the company intends to initiate the deployment of 5G infrastructure while strengthening cellular broadband services across the country.

The enhanced network capabilities will support improved services for customers using the Ufone, Telenor, and Onic brands that operate under PTML.
