Govt Raises Kerosene, LDO Prices; Petrol Unchanged

The federal government has revised the pricing structure for certain petroleum products, increasing the retail rates of kerosene oil and light diesel oil while maintaining existing prices for petrol and high-speed diesel.

According to the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the price of kerosene oil has been raised by Rs39.20 per litre, bringing the new retail rate to Rs358.01 per litre.

Similarly, the government has increased the price of light diesel oil by Rs67.51 per litre. As a result, the revised price of light diesel oil now stands at Rs302.52 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs235.01 per litre.

Authorities also confirmed that the existing petroleum levy structure on petrol and high-speed diesel will remain unchanged. The levy on petrol continues at Rs105.37 per litre, while the levy imposed on high-speed diesel remains at Rs55.24 per litre.

Officials stated that the current pricing framework reflects the government’s decision to maintain stability in petrol and diesel prices for consumers despite fluctuations in international petroleum markets.

Separately, the Finance Division has secured cabinet approval for the establishment of a “Prime Minister’s Austerity Fund.” In this regard, the Economic Coordination Committee has authorised the transfer of Rs27.10 billion to the fund to support fiscal management and government austerity measures.
