SadaPay Glitch Causes Negative Balances, Fix in 48h

SadaPay has formally acknowledged a system malfunction that resulted in erroneous deductions and negative balances appearing in certain customer accounts, and has assured that all affected balances will be rectified within 48 hours.

According to the company, the disruption was attributable to a temporary technical issue involving one of its external technology partners, which led to inaccurate transaction entries being reflected in user accounts.

In its official statement, SadaPay accepted responsibility for the incident and apologised to its users, confirming that customer funds remain secure and that corrective measures are underway to reverse the affected transactions across its internal and partner banking systems.

The issue gained prominence following numerous user complaints on social media platforms, where customers reported unexplained negative balances and delays in receiving responses from customer support services.

Several users indicated that their accounts reflected negative balances despite no unusual transaction activity, while others reported receiving payment-related alerts through messaging platforms.

Concerns were also raised regarding the inability to promptly deactivate accounts without assistance, as well as delays in issue resolution through official support channels.

Industry experts clarified that such incidents do not necessarily indicate fraudulent activity, noting that SadaPay operates under the regulatory supervision of the State Bank of Pakistan. They explained that operational disruptions linked to third-party systems may occur and are typically resolved once the underlying technical issue is addressed, with services expected to normalise following corrective action.
