Government Absorbs Rs69 Billion To Stabilize Fuel Prices

Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that the federal government has absorbed approximately Rs69 billion to stabilise petroleum product prices and extend relief to consumers amid prevailing economic pressures.

In his interaction with the media, the Finance Minister emphasised that the government is actively prioritising measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on the public while operating within constrained fiscal resources. He cautioned that ongoing regional tensions and the potential escalation of conflict could adversely impact energy infrastructure and disrupt supply chains.

Responding to queries, he expressed optimism that the national energy supply position is likely to improve by April, indicating that the country is not expected to encounter a severe energy crisis.

He further noted that the government is focusing on demand-side management strategies, efficient utilisation of energy resources, and conservation initiatives to minimise unnecessary consumption and ensure long-term sustainability.

Muhammad Aurangzeb also highlighted that a targeted relief package is currently under development for low-income groups, aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of inflation and providing support to vulnerable segments of society.

He invited economists and relevant stakeholders to contribute policy recommendations to support informed decision-making, while acknowledging that Shehbaz Sharif has recently outlined key economic and energy-related challenges facing the country.

The Finance Minister concluded by extending Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and expressed confidence that Pakistan will navigate current challenges through coordinated policy efforts and institutional collaboration.
