In an effort to enhance fiscal discipline and reduce public expenditure, the Government of Punjab has decided to eliminate board fees for members serving across government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions.

Under the new directive, no remuneration will be payable to either government-appointed or private members participating in boards of directors, governing bodies, statutory organisations, or other semi-autonomous and autonomous entities operating under provincial jurisdiction.

The policy explicitly extends to institutions such as Bank of Punjab and Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited, whereby attendance in board meetings will no longer entitle members to any financial compensation.

Officials have characterised this measure as part of a broader austerity initiative aimed at curbing non-essential expenditures within public sector governance frameworks, while ensuring the continuity of institutional oversight and decision-making functions.
