JazzCash CEO Joins Global Fintech Awards Jury

Murtaza Ali, Chief Executive Officer of JazzCash, has been appointed as a jury member for the Banking Category at the Money20/20 Awards 2026.

Notably, he is the sole representative from Pakistan included in this category’s jury panel for the current year, which is responsible for evaluating financial services innovations on a global scale.

This appointment follows JazzCash’s performance at the Money20/20 Awards 2025, where the platform secured a Silver distinction in the same category. Backed by VEON, JazzCash has established itself as one of Pakistan’s leading digital financial services providers, offering mobile wallets, merchant payment solutions, and branchless banking services.

Pakistan’s fintech sector has demonstrated steady growth in recent years, supported in part by regulatory initiatives undertaken by the State Bank of Pakistan, including the introduction of licensing frameworks for electronic money institutions and measures aimed at strengthening digital payments infrastructure.

Despite this progress, adoption remains uneven, particularly in rural and underserved regions. Nevertheless, platforms such as JazzCash and other market participants have played a pivotal role in onboarding first-time users into the formal financial ecosystem.

Ali’s inclusion on the jury reflects a gradual, albeit limited, increase in international recognition for Pakistani fintech enterprises. It also coincides with heightened global investor interest in emerging markets characterized by large unbanked populations.

While it remains uncertain whether such attention will translate into sustained investment and scalable growth, representation at international platforms such as Money20/20 indicates that Pakistan’s fintech sector is beginning to gain visibility beyond its domestic landscape.
