Fuel Prices Revised: Kerosene Down, Diesel and Petrol Up

The government has revised petroleum product prices, reducing kerosene rates while increasing the price of light diesel oil in response to fluctuations in international oil markets and exchange rate pressures.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the price of kerosene has been decreased by Rs4.45 per litre, bringing it down to Rs360.76 per litre.

Conversely, the price of light diesel oil has been raised by Rs17.03 per litre, with the new rate set at Rs287.54 per litre.

Earlier, the government also implemented upward revisions in the prices of high-speed diesel (HSD) and petrol for a one-week period. HSD saw an increase of Rs19.39 per litre, reaching Rs399.58 per litre from Rs380.19, while petrol rose by Rs6.51 per litre to Rs399.86 per litre from Rs393.35.

Officials indicated that these adjustments are driven by changes in global oil prices and supply chain disruptions associated with the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.

High-speed diesel, being a key input for transportation and agricultural activities, is expected to have a direct impact on the cost structure of the agriculture sector following the price increase.
