FBR Suspends K-Electric Sales Tax Registration Status

The Federal Board of Revenue has suspended the sales tax registration status of K-Electric with effect from May 20, 2026, according to taxpayer registration information available on the FBR’s online portal.

Despite the suspension of the company’s sales tax registration, K-Electric’s income tax registration status continues to remain active on the FBR system.

In response to the development, a spokesperson for K-Electric stated that the company had already engaged with the FBR regarding the matter and had received assurances that the issue would be resolved and the system restored to normal operational status.

Legal and taxation experts expressed concern over the suspension, warning that the development could create complications for industrial, commercial, and domestic consumers seeking to claim input tax adjustments against electricity bills issued by the utility company.
