SBP Declares July 1 Bank Holiday

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that Wednesday, July 1, 2026, will be observed as a bank holiday, during which the central bank will remain closed for public dealing.

In line with the SBP’s notification issued on June 24, all commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks (MFBs) across Pakistan will also remain closed for customer-facing public transactions on the same date.

However, despite the suspension of public dealing, employees of banks, DFIs, and MFBs will continue to attend their offices and perform official duties in accordance with normal working arrangements.

The announcement effectively means that while banking institutions will remain operational internally, routine over-the-counter services and public dealing will not be available on July 1 due to the designated bank holiday.
