Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb said China has played an important role in Pakistan's digital transformation, which is essential for achieving sustainable economic development.
He stated that Pakistan has the third largest population of freelancers worldwide who are expected to contribute significantly to the country's economic growth.
During an interview with China Global Television Network at the World Economic Forum, the minister emphasized the vibrant and enduring partnership between Pakistan and China, according to a press release issued on Friday.
Aurangzeb explained that China has been instrumental in the development of Pakistan's digital infrastructure. He said that Phase II of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will prioritize the relocation of Chinese industries to Pakistan, enabling export driven growth and economic progress.
The finance minister highlighted Pakistan's goal of becoming an export hub for Chinese industries while enhancing its role in the global economy. He acknowledged China's support in areas such as artificial intelligence, technology, financial assistance, investment, and knowledge sharing.
He emphasized the importance of future collaboration through the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and noted that China's projected economic growth in 2024 would further strengthen their partnership.
Aurangzeb expressed Pakistan's efforts to launch the Panda Bond this year to access China's extensive capital market.
He also announced the introduction of Pakistan's first Foreign Direct Investment Digital Initiative, which aims to advance the IT sector by learning from China's experience.
This initiative is expected to bring significant advancements in digital infrastructure, the creation of technology zones, expansion of financial technology, and the establishment of artificial intelligence data centers.
The minister concluded that these efforts mark a major step in Pakistan's journey toward digital transformation and economic progress.
