Multan Excise Department Exceeds FY2025-26 Revenue Target

The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Multan Division, surpassed its annual revenue target for the fiscal year 2025-26 by collecting over Rs5.37 billion against the assigned target of Rs5.15 billion, achieving an overall recovery rate of 104%.

According to the department’s annual performance report, issued by Deputy Director (Administration) and spokesperson Khalid Hussain Qasuri, the milestone was achieved through the collective efforts of Excise and Taxation Officers (ETOs), inspectors, and field teams operating across the four districts of the division.

Motor Vehicle Tax emerged as the highest revenue-generating head, contributing Rs3.38 billion compared to the target of Rs2.75 billion, resulting in an impressive recovery rate of 123%.

Excise Duty also outperformed expectations, with collections reaching Rs150 million against the allocated target of Rs122.5 million, reflecting a recovery rate of 122%.

Property Tax generated Rs1.64 billion, representing 83% of its Rs1.97 billion target, while Luxury House Tax collections amounted to Rs71 million, achieving 96% of the targeted Rs74 million.

Professional Tax collections reached Rs109 million against the prescribed target of Rs167 million, recording a recovery rate of 65%. Meanwhile, Highway Tax generated Rs54.2 million, equivalent to 68% of its Rs79 million collection target.

District-wise performance showed Vehari and Khanewal leading the division with recovery rates of 107% each. Multan secured a recovery rate of 104%, followed closely by Lodhran at 103%.

The report noted that the successful revenue drive was carried out under the guidance of Director General Excise and Taxation Punjab Umar Sher Chattha and the supervision of Director Excise and Taxation Multan Division Iftikhar Ahmed Bhalli.

Commenting on the department’s performance, Bhalli credited the achievement to the dedication of departmental officials and the growing confidence of taxpayers—particularly the business community—in the Punjab Government’s taxpayer-friendly policies.

He further stated that ongoing digital reforms have enhanced transparency in tax assessment, simplified tax payment procedures, and strengthened public trust in the provincial taxation framework.

Looking ahead, the director affirmed that the department would continue introducing citizen-centric initiatives during the new fiscal year while directing officers to maintain professionalism and ensure respectful dealings with taxpayers.

He also reiterated that strict enforcement measures against tax defaulters would remain in place to curb tax evasion and improve revenue generation, urging businesses and citizens to clear outstanding tax liabilities and contribute towards improved public service delivery.
