Senate Told FBR Officials Linked to Silver Theft

Customs authorities informed a Senate sub-committee that officials are allegedly involved in the theft of 398 kilograms of silver, with investigations into the matter currently underway.

The issue came under discussion during a meeting of the sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control, chaired by Senator Saifullah Abro.

During the briefing, Customs officials informed committee members that the silver consignment had been transported from Quetta by officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) before it was reportedly stolen.

Officials further stated that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested the individuals allegedly linked to the incident and had successfully recovered a substantial portion of the missing silver.

According to the briefing, the recovered silver was found in the possession of a collector who had been responsible for overseeing the consignment. Authorities also disclosed that two FBR inspectors, along with one private individual, are alleged to have been involved in the theft.

The committee was informed that the FIA's investigation remains in progress and that further legal proceedings will continue based on the outcome of the inquiry.
