Senate Panel Approves Blue Passport Bill for MPs’ Children

The Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control has unanimously approved the Members of Parliament Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2026, proposing that dependent children of former members of parliament up to the age of 28 years become eligible for blue passports.

The private member’s bill, introduced by Senator Abdul Qadir, was approved during a committee meeting presided over by Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman.

During the proceedings, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry endorsed the proposed legislation and stated that the committee’s recommendations would be forwarded to the federal cabinet for consideration and approval by the competent authority.

Committee members also reviewed the possible implications of the proposed policy on Pakistan’s international passport ranking and discussed its broader administrative impact before unanimously endorsing the bill for advancement to the next stage of the legislative process.
