Petrol Crosses Rs331 As Prices Rise

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Thursday announced another increase in fuel prices under the revised daily petroleum pricing mechanism, raising petrol by Rs4.40 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.62 per litre for July 24, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) updated the ex-depot prices of petroleum products in line with the government's newly introduced daily pricing system, effective from July 24, 2026.

Under the revised rates, the price of petrol (motor spirit) has increased from Rs327.12 to Rs331.52 per litre, reflecting an increase of Rs4.40 per litre.

Likewise, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been raised from Rs375.04 to Rs378.66 per litre, marking an increase of Rs3.62 per litre.

The latest adjustment comes as Pakistan continues implementing its daily fuel pricing mechanism, under which OGRA revises petroleum prices every day based on fluctuations in international oil prices and movements in the exchange rate.

The updated fuel prices came into effect on July 24, 2026.

The increase in petrol prices is expected to raise transportation costs for private vehicle owners and motorcycle users, while the higher diesel price is likely to have wider economic consequences because HSD is extensively used by heavy transport, buses, agricultural machinery, tube wells, and commercial goods carriers.

The government has maintained that the daily pricing mechanism is designed to align domestic fuel prices more closely with global oil market trends while ensuring that changes in international prices are passed on to consumers without significant delays.
