petrol Rise Rs3.66 as Daily Hikes Continue

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday announced another increase in fuel prices, raising the ex-depot price of petrol by Rs3.66 per litre and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs4.80 per litre under the revised daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

The updated prices will remain in effect for July 25, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the ex-depot price of petrol from Rs331.52 to Rs335.18 per litre, reflecting a rise of Rs3.66 per litre.

Likewise, the ex-depot price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been revised upward from Rs378.66 to Rs383.46 per litre, marking an increase of Rs4.80 per litre.

The revised rates apply for July 25, 2026, under the government's recently introduced daily fuel pricing system, which replaced the previous weekly and fortnightly pricing mechanism.

Under this framework, OGRA adjusts petroleum prices every day based on changes in international oil prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate.

The latest increase is expected to raise fuel expenses for private vehicle owners and motorcycle riders, while the higher diesel price could have wider economic consequences, as HSD is widely used by heavy transport, public buses, agricultural machinery, tube wells, and freight vehicles, potentially driving up transportation, logistics, and farming costs.
