Fuel Prices Rise From July 30

The federal government on Tuesday announced another increase in fuel prices, raising the rates of petrol by Rs1.63 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.55 per litre, following fluctuations in global petroleum markets.

Under the revised pricing, petrol will now cost Rs335.81 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be available at Rs388.38 per litre. A notification issued by the Petroleum Division confirmed that the new prices will come into effect from July 30 (Wednesday).

Despite the latest adjustment, the government continues to collect Rs110 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs96 per litre on high-speed diesel.

Petrol remains the primary fuel for private cars, motorcycles and rickshaws, making every price increase especially burdensome for middle- and lower-middle-income households. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel is extensively used in heavy transportation, agriculture, electricity generation and industrial operations, meaning any rise in its price can significantly increase transport, logistics and production costs across multiple sectors.
