Fuel Prices Reduced From August 1

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday announced a minor reduction in petroleum prices under its revised pricing mechanism, cutting the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs0.66 per litre and motor spirit (petrol) by Rs0.12 per litre.

According to the Petroleum Division, the ex-depot price of HSD has been reduced from Rs393.04 to Rs392.38 per litre, reflecting a decrease of Rs0.66 per litre.

Likewise, the ex-depot price of motor spirit (petrol) has been lowered from Rs336.15 to Rs336.03 per litre, marking a reduction of Rs0.12 per litre.

The revised fuel prices will remain effective from August 1 to August 3, 2026, under the government's updated petroleum pricing mechanism, which provides for more frequent revisions in fuel prices.

The latest adjustment offers only limited relief to consumers, with diesel receiving a comparatively larger price cut than petrol. High-speed diesel is extensively used in heavy transport, buses, tractors, tube wells and agricultural machinery, making its price a key factor influencing transportation expenses, farming costs and overall inflation.

The Ministry of Energy stated that the revised rates were determined by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in accordance with the federal government's notified petroleum pricing mechanism.
