NBP CEO Reappointed for Two Weeks

The Government of Pakistan has reappointed Rehmat Ali Hasnie as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for a temporary period of two weeks, effective August 7, 2026.

The reappointment was made by the Finance Division through Notification No. F.1(9)Bkg-III/2022-673, dated August 6, 2026, under the powers granted by Section 11(3)(d) of the Banks (Nationalization) Act, 1974.

The National Bank of Pakistan formally informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of the decision through a regulatory notice issued on Thursday.

According to the notification, Rehmat Ali Hasnie will continue serving as President/CEO of NBP for two weeks from August 7, 2026, or until the newly appointed President/CEO officially assumes office, whichever occurs first.

The temporary extension ensures continuity in the bank's leadership while the process of appointing a permanent President and CEO is completed.
