Petroleum Dealers’ Margin Raised to Rs9.98 Per Litre

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet has approved a Rs1.34 per litre increase in the dealers’ margin on petroleum products, taking it from Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre.

The decision was taken during an ECC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division. The committee reviewed a proposal submitted by the Petroleum Division seeking an upward revision in dealers’ margins for Motor Spirit (MS) and High-Speed Diesel (HSD).

A senior office-bearer of the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association (APPPOA) confirmed that petroleum dealers will now receive Rs9.98 per litre as their margin, compared with the previous rate of Rs8.64. The adjustment represents an increase of Rs1.34 per litre.

The ECC approved the proposal on August 14, coinciding with Pakistan’s Independence Day, after considering the Petroleum Division’s summary concerning the revision of margins on petroleum products.

The increase will raise the amount earned by petroleum dealers on each litre sold and will become part of the broader pricing structure governing petroleum products in the country.

The ECC session was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, along with federal secretaries and senior officials from the concerned ministries and government divisions.
