Petrol Prices Jump by Rs5.77 per litre for 18 august

ISLAMABAD: Petroleum consumers are set to pay more from Tuesday after the federal government approved another increase in fuel prices, raising petrol by Rs5.77 per litre and High Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs6.47 per litre.

The Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division formally notified the revised rates following the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) assessment under the government’s existing petroleum pricing framework.

With the latest adjustment, the price of petrol has climbed to Rs331.20 per litre from Rs325.43, while HSD has increased to Rs390.42 per litre from the previous Rs383.95.

The revised prices will remain applicable until the next scheduled review, as the government continues to adjust domestic fuel rates in response to movements in international oil markets and other relevant cost considerations.

The latest increase comes only a few days after the previous petroleum price revision. During that adjustment, petrol became costlier by Re0.45 per litre, while the price of HSD was raised by Rs1.16 per litre.

The successive increases mean consumers are facing another upward adjustment in petroleum prices within a short period, adding further pressure to transportation and other fuel-related costs.
