Petrol prices rise by Rs3.34 for 19 August

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has raised the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs5.27 per litre and petrol by Rs3.34 per litre for August 19, 2026, under the revised daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot rates of major petroleum products for the day.

Following the latest adjustment, the ex-depot price of HSD has climbed from Rs390.42 to Rs395.69 per litre, marking an increase of Rs5.27.

The price of Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, has also gone up from Rs331.20 to Rs334.54 per litre, reflecting a rise of Rs3.34 per litre.

The latest adjustment has affected diesel more significantly than petrol. HSD is a key fuel for trucks, buses and other heavy commercial transport, while the agricultural sector also depends heavily on diesel-powered tractors and machinery. Generators and various commercial equipment likewise rely on HSD for operation.

As a result, higher diesel prices are likely to increase operating costs for transporters, farmers and businesses that depend on diesel-fuelled machinery and equipment.

Petrol, meanwhile, is mainly consumed by cars, motorcycles, rickshaws and other light vehicles. The Rs3.34 per litre increase will therefore raise fuel expenses for motorists and other users of petrol-powered vehicles.

According to the Petroleum Division’s notification, the revised ex-depot prices applicable for August 19, 2026, stand at Rs395.69 per litre for HSD and Rs334.54 per litre for petrol.
