Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s Tenure as NBP President Ends

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer officially concluded on August 21, 2026.

His departure comes after the Finance Division granted him a short two-week extension on August 6 under Section 11(3)(d) of the Banks (Nationalization) Act, 1974. The temporary arrangement, which took effect on August 7, was intended to ensure continuity in the bank’s leadership until his term ended or a successor was appointed.

Hasnie is an experienced banking executive with more than three decades in the financial sector. He joined NBP in 2010 and held senior positions including leadership of the bank’s priority sector lending and investment banking operations.

During his time as NBP president, Hasnie worked on strengthening the institution’s loan portfolio, improving key financial indicators and upgrading its information technology systems.

Before joining NBP, he held senior roles at PAIR Investment Company, IGI Investment Bank and the Lahore Stock Exchange, building an extensive career across Pakistan’s banking and financial markets.

In its formal notification to the PSX, NBP asked the exchange to communicate the leadership change to holders of TRE certificates.
