Petrol Rises Rs1.08, Diesel up Rs0.51 for September 2

ISLAMABAD: Petrol prices have gone up by Rs0.77 per litre, while the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs1.03 per litre under the revised petroleum pricing mechanism effective September 1.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot rates of petroleum products from September 1, according to a statement issued by the Petroleum Division on Monday.

Following the latest adjustment, the price of Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, has increased from Rs342.02 to Rs342.79 per litre, reflecting a rise of Rs0.77 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of High Speed Diesel has fallen from Rs371.44 to Rs370.41 per litre, marking a reduction of Rs1.03 per litre.

The latest adjustment brings mixed changes for consumers, with petrol users facing a slight increase while diesel users benefit from a comparatively larger decrease.

The Petroleum Division said the revised rates were calculated according to the updated petroleum pricing mechanism approved by the federal government.

The new prices will remain effective from September 1, with petrol available at Rs342.79 per litre and HSD priced at Rs370.41 per litre.

The latest revision represents a mixed trend in fuel prices, as the country’s two major petroleum products move in opposite directions at the beginning of September.
