Pakistan Banking Deposits Rise 19.1% To Rs40.83 Trillion

Pakistan’s banking sector deposits rose 19.1% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs40.83 trillion in July 2026, compared with Rs34.28 trillion recorded during the same month last year, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data compiled by Arif Habib Limited (AHL) Research.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, deposits remained broadly stable, edging down 0.1% from Rs40.89 trillion in June 2026.

Banking sector advances reached Rs14.46 trillion in July, showing a 9% YoY increase from Rs13.27 trillion recorded in July 2025. However, advances declined 5.3% MoM from Rs15.27 trillion in June.

Investments grew 7.9% YoY to Rs39.05 trillion, compared with Rs36.19 trillion a year earlier. On a monthly basis, however, investments dropped 8.3% from Rs42.58 trillion in June.

The advance-to-deposit ratio (ADR) stood at 35.4% in July 2026, down from 38.7% a year earlier and 37.4% in June. This represented a decline of 329 basis points YoY and 193 basis points MoM.

Meanwhile, the investment-to-deposit ratio (IDR) fell to 95.6%, compared with 105.6% in July 2025 and 104.2% in June 2026. The ratio declined by 993 basis points YoY and 850 basis points MoM.
