NAB Investigates Senior Sindh Irrigation Officials

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sukkur has opened two investigations into senior officials of the Sindh Irrigation Department and other individuals over allegations involving corruption, misuse of authority, misappropriation of public funds and assets allegedly beyond known sources of income.

According to a news report, Sindh Irrigation Secretary Zarif Khero and several other senior officials have come under scrutiny as part of the investigations.

One of the inquiries concerns government land under the Irrigation Department, with approximately 84,977.59 acres identified across five districts of Sindh.

NAB documents show that revenue authorities have been instructed to urgently rectify official land records and ensure the identified property, spread across more than 500 dehs, is transferred into the name of the Irrigation Department.

Dadu has the largest share of the identified land, covering 38,854.72 acres. Sujawal accounts for another 22,958.64 acres, while 12,519.78 acres have been identified in Jamshoro district.

The remaining land includes 6,620.63 acres in Shaheed Benazirabad and 4,023.82 acres in Tando Mohammad Khan.

The investigations are examining allegations of corruption, misuse and misappropriation of government funds, abuse of official authority and possession of assets that may not be supported by known sources of income.

NAB’s investigation and scrutiny of the officials represent allegations at this stage and do not by themselves establish that any individual has committed wrongdoing.
