Petrol Hits Rs380.24, Diesel Crosses Rs409 Per Litre

Pakistan’s petrol price will climb to Rs380.24 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) will reach Rs409.42 per litre from Tuesday, marking the government’s sixth consecutive fuel price increase.

According to the latest adjustment, petrol has become Rs4.42 per litre more expensive, rising from Rs375.82. The price of HSD has increased by Rs6.10 per litre, moving up from Rs403.32.

The revised ex-depot rates will come into force on September 15, following a notification issued by the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy. The new prices were determined on the basis of calculations carried out by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

The increase comes just days after the government announced another fuel price revision on September 12. At that time, petrol became Rs5.02 per litre more expensive, while the price of HSD rose by Rs5.28 per litre.

With the latest announcement, domestic fuel prices have now risen during six consecutive reviews under the government’s existing petroleum pricing mechanism.

The fresh increase has been linked to international oil market pressures, with crude prices remaining above $100 per barrel amid growing concerns about disruptions to regional oil supplies and transportation routes in the Middle East.

On Monday, Brent crude was trading $2.72, or 2.6%, higher at $107.33 per barrel by 1539 GMT. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained $2.51, or 2.5%, reaching $102.56 per barrel, putting it on track for its highest closing level since May 19.

Global oil markets have faced renewed uncertainty following attacks on energy infrastructure and shipping routes across the region.

Yemen’s Houthi group claimed on Monday that it had fired dozens of missiles and drones at a Saudi military airbase in Khamis Mushait.

In a separate incident, an attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline on Friday—attributed to Iran-backed fighters in Iraq—disrupted a key route used by Riyadh to transport crude toward the Red Sea while avoiding the Strait of Hormuz.

The disruption has raised concerns that as much as 4% of the world’s oil supply could be affected, increasing fears over the availability, movement and delivery of crude from the region.
