Petrol Drops Below Rs390 As Diesel Falls To Rs404.97

The government has announced another reduction in petroleum prices, lowering petrol by Rs2.27 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.56 per litre for September 29.

According to the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced from Rs391.30 to Rs389.03 per litre, while HSD has fallen from Rs408.53 to Rs404.97 per litre.

The revised rates will apply only on September 29 under the government’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism, offering temporary relief to consumers amid changes in international oil prices.

The Petroleum Division issued the notification after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determined the revised rates.

Following the latest reduction, petrol has moved below Rs390 per litre, while diesel has also declined further after previously remaining above the Rs400 mark.

The reduction in HSD prices is particularly relevant for the transport and agriculture sectors, where diesel is widely used by commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, tractors and heavy machinery. Lower diesel prices can help reduce transportation and operating expenses, although the final impact will depend on freight rates and other costs.

The new prices will remain effective for one day, after which petroleum rates may be reviewed again under the daily pricing mechanism.
