Petrol Hits Rs392.76 as Diesel Rises to Rs399.64

The federal government has raised petrol prices by Rs2.10 per litre to Rs392.76, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has become costlier by Re0.30, bringing its price to Rs399.64 per litre. The revised rates apply from October 3 through October 5, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) adjusted ex-depot fuel prices in accordance with the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

Under the latest revision, petrol has increased from Rs390.66 to Rs392.76 per litre, while the price of HSD has edged up from Rs399.34 to Rs399.64 per litre.

The Petroleum Division attributed the adjustments to fluctuations in international markets, including movements in Platts rates, premiums and incidental costs.

In the preceding revision, which took effect on October 2, the government raised petrol prices by Rs3.26 per litre to Rs390.66, while reducing the diesel rate by Rs1.01 to Rs399.34 per litre.

The latest domestic fuel increases come despite a sharp decline in international oil prices on Friday. Reports of discussions in Europe concerning additional releases of diesel and crude oil reserves eased concerns about limited global energy supplies.

Brent crude futures dropped $3.06, or 3%, to $99.25 per barrel at 1409 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell $3.95, or 4.25%, to $88.92 per barrel.

Over the week, Brent crude recorded a decline of approximately 4.7%, while WTI prices fell around 3.7%. European gasoil futures, an important benchmark for diesel pricing, also decreased by roughly 4.3% to $1,386.75 per metric tonne.
