Two FBR Officials Killed in Dera Ismail Khan Attack

Two Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials were killed on Tuesday after unidentified armed attackers opened fire on an Enforcement Squad in Dera Ismail Khan.

According to police sources, the incident occurred near Qureshi Morr on Bypass Road, within the limits of Gomal University Police Station.

The FBR said three members of its Enforcement Squad — Sepoy Izharullah, Arm Guard Rahmatullah and Sepoy Sulaiman — were carrying out official duties at the designated location at around 11:30am when unidentified armed men arrived and began firing.

Arm Guard Rahmatullah and Sepoy Sulaiman were killed in the attack, while Sepoy Izharullah escaped unharmed.

According to the FBR, Izharullah returned fire, forcing the attackers to retreat from the area.

The tax authority further said the assailants took away official weapons and ammunition that had been issued to the squad members.

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb condemned the attack and paid tribute to Rahmatullah and Sulaiman for performing their official responsibilities despite difficult circumstances.

Aurangzeb expressed condolences to the families of the two deceased officials, saying the incident was a source of deep grief for the FBR.

The finance minister directed that all aspects of the attack be investigated in coordination with the relevant authorities and expressed hope that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.

He also reiterated the government’s support for FBR personnel involved in enforcement operations and acknowledged their continued efforts under challenging conditions.

Separately, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial paid tribute to the two officials and extended condolences to their families.

The FBR said it stands with the families of the officials who were killed in the attack.
