SHC Suspends Disputed NEPRA, Energy Ministry Tariff Orders

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has temporarily suspended disputed tariff-related orders and notifications issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and the Ministry of Energy after K-Electric challenged the regulatory decisions.

In a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, K-Electric stated that the court passed ad-interim orders on October 7, suspending the contested regulatory decisions and notifications.

The power utility had challenged judgments issued by the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal on September 23, 2026, in connection with its tariff appeals.

Its petition also challenged NEPRA’s review determinations dated October 20, 2025, as well as subsequent notifications issued by the regulator on September 23, 2026, and the Ministry of Energy’s Power Division on September 27, 2026.

K-Electric said it had moved the Sindh High Court in exercise of its legal rights against the regulatory decisions.

According to the company, the court granted interim relief by putting the disputed orders and notifications on hold.

The latest disclosure follows K-Electric’s earlier filing dated September 24, 2026, regarding the ongoing tariff proceedings.
