Petrol Nears Rs400 as Prices Rise to Rs398.96

The government has raised petrol prices by Rs2.31 per litre to Rs398.96 and increased high-speed diesel (HSD) by 78 paisas to Rs395.72 per litre for October 9, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot rates of petroleum products under the government’s fuel pricing mechanism.

Petrol has increased from Rs396.65 to Rs398.96 per litre, while the price of HSD has climbed from Rs394.94 to Rs395.72 per litre.

The Petroleum Division attributed the latest changes to movements in international petroleum prices, including fluctuations in Platts rates, premiums and other relevant costs.

The adjustment follows the October 8 revision, when petrol became Rs1.82 per litre more expensive, while HSD prices were reduced by 91 paisas per litre.

Following the latest increase, petrol is now approaching the Rs400-per-litre threshold, whereas diesel continues to remain below that level.

The revised rates will apply for October 9 under the government’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism.
