NEPRA Adds Rs1.1086 Per Unit to October Electricity Bills

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a positive fuel charges adjustment (FCA) of Rs1.1086 per unit for electricity consumed in August 2026, which will be collected from consumers through their October electricity bills.

According to a notification issued on October 7, the actual fuel cost for August was Rs8.2084 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared with the reference cost of Rs7.0998 per kWh. The difference has resulted in a positive adjustment of Rs1.1086 per unit.

The increase will apply to consumers of ex-WAPDA distribution companies (XWDISCOs) and K-Electric under the federal government’s policy guidelines for uniform fuel cost adjustments.

NEPRA stated that the adjustment would cover all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and prepaid consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs.

The additional charge will also apply to electricity used under the Incremental Consumption Package.

The regulator has instructed XWDISCOs and K-Electric to show the August fuel adjustment as a separate item on electricity bills issued in October 2026, calculated according to the units consumed during August.

Consumers who received their October bills before the notification was issued may be charged the adjustment in the following billing month.

NEPRA has also directed electricity distribution companies and K-Electric to ensure compliance with relevant court orders when implementing the adjustment.

The notification has been issued for publication in the Official Gazette of Pakistan.
