Petrol Falls to Rs395.37 as Diesel Rises to Rs396.85

The federal government on Monday cut petrol prices by Rs2.93 per litre to Rs395.37, while raising the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Re0.61 to Rs396.85 per litre, with the revised prices taking effect from October 13, 2026.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) updated the ex-depot rates of petroleum products under the government's pricing mechanism, as stated in a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.

Under the new rates, petrol will be sold at Rs395.37 per litre, compared with the previous price of Rs398.30. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel will cost Rs396.85 per litre, up from Rs396.24.

The revised rates are applicable from October 13.

The Petroleum Division linked the changes to movements in global petroleum markets, including fluctuations in Platts rates, premiums and incidental costs.

The latest adjustment comes after Friday's revision, when petrol became cheaper by Re0.66 per litre, falling to Rs398.30, while diesel prices rose by Re0.52 to Rs396.24 per litre.

In international markets, oil prices climbed by around 2% on Monday, reaching their highest levels in almost two weeks. The increase came as attacks on Saudi Arabia outweighed expectations of greater oil supplies following developments related to Russian diesel exports and a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire concerning energy targets.

At 11:07 a.m. EDT (1507 GMT), Brent crude futures had risen by $2.04, or 2%, to $106.76 per barrel, marking their highest level since September 29.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures also advanced by $1.84, or 2%, reaching $93.69 per barrel.
