In a disturbing development from South Waziristan, the President of the Waziristan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), along with two Customs officers, were abducted on Thursday, sparking deep concerns among local businesses.
Saifur Rehman, President of WCCI, along with Customs Superintendent Nisar Abbasi and Inspector Khushal, were en route back from the Customs office at the Angoor Adda border crossing when their vehicle was intercepted by unidentified individuals. The assailants forced them out of the vehicle and took them to an undisclosed location, as reported by Deputy Commissioner Nasir Khan.
Although an investigation has been launched by the district administration and police, no formal First Information Report (FIR) has been filed yet. At the time of reporting, the three men’s whereabouts remained unknown, causing anxiety among the local community, particularly business owners.
The Wana Trade Union and WCCI have strongly condemned the abduction, urging both the government and security agencies to take swift action to secure the release of the captives.
Local traders have warned that such incidents are damaging business activities and have threatened protests unless the government addresses the law and order situation. Residents are also calling for decisive measures from security forces to prevent further abductions and restore stability, aiming to rebuild trust within both the business community and the public.
