The Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi has updated the customs value for imported desiccated coconut, raising the price from $1 per kilogram to $1.6 per kilogram for all countries of origin.
This adjustment, detailed in a ruling issued on Tuesday (Ruling No. 1970 of 2025), was based on an extensive review of import data, market trends, and discrepancies between the previous customs values and actual market prices. The review was conducted under Sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.
A meeting with key stakeholders was convened to discuss the new rates, where participants were encouraged to provide feedback and submit relevant import documentation. The review process included a comprehensive analysis of data from the past 90 days, along with market inquiries in accordance with the Directorate's Office Order and Section 25(7) of the Customs Act, 1969.
The recalculated customs value was derived after factoring in profit margins and reviewing the cost and freight (C&F) value under Section 25(7), with the new value now being used for calculating duties and taxes.
These updated customs values are now applicable to both High Fat and Low Fat desiccated coconut imports.
