On Friday, Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO) Mumtaz Ali Shah handed over the 2024 annual report to President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Shah told the president that the FIO sorted out 5,827 complaints, securing Rs2.32 billion in relief for insurance policyholders. He also updated Zardari on how the FIO is tackling fraud and mismanagement in the insurance game.
Zardari stressed that quick justice is key, especially for low-income folks with policies.
In a separate meeting, Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment Fauzia Viqar also met Zardari and shared her 2024 report.
Her report showed that the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) handled 673 cases last year. A big highlight was resolving 139 out of 168 complaints about women being denied property—over 82% sorted.
Viqar promised Zardari that FOSPAH is focusing on fast-tracking women’s property rights cases.
