NHA Increases Toll Taxes by Up to 50% on Major Motorways from April 1

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has just slammed drivers with a massive toll tax hike of 15% to 50%, kicking in on April 1—and this is their second price bomb since January this year! Get ready to feel the pinch on national highways and major motorways like M1, M3, M4, M5, M14, and E35.

This isn’t their first rodeo—the last toll tweak hit on January 5, but now they’re cranking it up even higher. Under the new sky-high rates, car tolls have jumped from Rs60 to Rs70, while vans and jeeps are getting hammered, soaring from Rs100 to Rs150. Buses? Now they’re coughing up Rs250, up from Rs200, and 2-3 axle trucks face a Rs50 spike to Rs300, with articulated trucks shelling out Rs550—also up Rs50.

On the M1 Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, it’s a brutal hit: cars now pay Rs550, wagons Rs850, minibuses Rs1,150, buses Rs1,650, 2-3 axle trucks Rs2,150, and articulated trucks a whopping Rs2,650. On the M3 Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway, car tolls have rocketed from Rs700 to Rs800. The M4 Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan Motorway car toll is now Rs1,050, up from Rs950, and on the M5 Multan-Sukkur Motorway, it’s jumped to Rs1,200 from Rs1,100. Even the M14 Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla route toll has climbed to Rs650, while the E35 Hasan Abdal-Havelian-Mansehra toll has spiked to Rs300.

For the big rigs and commercial beasts, new tolls range from a steep Rs850 to Rs5,750, depending on the route and vehicle type. The NHA hasn’t spilled the beans on why this hike is happening, but insiders hint it’s all about covering soaring infrastructure and maintenance costs.
