The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi executed a decisive operation on Friday, seizing smuggled goods worth Rs140 million outside Port Muhammad Bin Qasim Terminal. Acting on intelligence reports, officials uncovered a scheme where unscrupulous elements misused the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) to smuggle items through the Customs’ green channel via misdeclaration.
The intercepted consignments, intended for export, contained undeclared and restricted goods, including high-value electronics, fabrics, and other dutiable commodities, hidden under false documentation. Authorities stressed that such exploitation of the green channel—meant to streamline legitimate trade—threatens revenue collection and border security, undermining schemes designed for genuine exporters.
Customs Enforcement has initiated a thorough investigation to identify the individuals and companies behind the racket. Plans are underway to intensify monitoring and profiling at Port Qasim and other entry/exit points to prevent future violations. Officials vowed to maintain unwavering vigilance against misuse of trade mechanisms, with legal action promised against all those involved.
