| 26-Apr-2025

At the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif delivered a resolute condemnation of terrorism in all forms, affirming Pakistan’s readiness to join any neutral, transparent, and credible investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He criticized India’s baseless allegations and exploitation in the tragedy, calling for an end to the perpetual blame game.

Addressing the cadets’ passing out parade, Sharif emphasized that water—a vital national interest for Pakistan’s 240 million people—would be safeguarded at all costs. In response to India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, he warned that any attempt to stop, reduce, or divert Pakistan’s water would face a full-force response, leaving no room for misinterpretation.

Sharif underscored the valiant armed forces’ readiness to defend territorial integrity and sovereignty, citing their resolute response to India’s 2019 incursion. He declared the nation’s united stance behind its military, vowing to protect every inch of the motherland with a clear message to all.

The ceremony, attended by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asif Munir, military leaders, diplomats, and cadets’ parents, saw Sharif reiterate that peace is Pakistan’s preference but not a weakness, and the country would never compromise on its dignity and security. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s global role in promoting peace and security, rooted in its belief in human unity.

Sharif highlighted Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision of Kashmir as Pakistan’s jugular vein, pledging unwavering support for Kashmiris’ self-determination amid UN resolutions. He condemned India’s systematic persecution of minorities, especially Muslims and Sikhs, urging India to fulfill its international obligations to protect them.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s anti-terrorism sacrifices90,000 casualties and over $600 billion in economic losses—Sharif stressed the nation’s unyielding resolve against terrorism. On the economic front, he noted Pakistan’s bold strides toward recovery, attracting foreign investment in mining, agriculture, livestock, IT, and defence production, while strengthening diplomatic ties globally.

As a UNSC non-permanent member for 2025-26, Sharif committed Pakistan to advancing global peace and upholding the UN Charter. He congratulated the cadets, calling them part of one of the world’s finest armies, and extended warm felicitations to cadets from brotherly nations, emphasizing Pakistan’s tradition of hospitality.

Sharif expressed confidence that the cadets would embody Quaid-e-Azam’s principles of faith, unity, and discipline, and distributed awards to the top performers.
