LTO Karachi Collects Rs2.807T, Up 11.6% in FY25

Karachi, June 6 — The Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi has delivered a stellar performance, amassing a record Rs2.807 trillion in tax revenue from July 2024 to May 2025, an 11.6% jump from last year’s Rs2.515 trillion, showcasing its pivotal role in the Federal Board of Revenue’s efforts. Income tax led the charge, soaring 28.1% to Rs1.510 trillion from Rs1.179 trillion, driven by enhanced compliance and robust recovery measures. Sales tax climbed 19.2% to Rs1.185 trillion from Rs994.52 billion, while Federal Excise Duty (FED) surged a striking 58%, hitting Rs192.49 billion from Rs121.85 billion.

May 2025 alone saw Rs248.63 billion collected, a 24.7% rise from May 2024’s Rs199.43 billion, with income tax up 22.1%, sales tax up 17.6%, and FED skyrocketing 88.3% to Rs20.83 billion from Rs11.06 billion. Tax refunds dipped slightly to Rs81.17 billion from Rs82.51 billion, with May refunds down 13% to Rs4.72 billion, reflecting tighter refund management. Income tax comprised 53.8%, sales tax 42.2%, and FED 6.9% of the total.
