OGRA Slashes LPG Prices for July 2025

| 30-Jun-2025

Islamabad, June 30, 2025 — The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has notified a significant reduction in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices for July 2025, delivering relief to households and small businesses dependent on LPG for cooking and heating, as announced on Monday. The price cut slashes Rs88 from a domestic cylinder and Rs337 from a commercial cylinder, with the official producer price dropping Rs6,299 per metric ton.

New rates set LPG at Rs233 per kg (from Rs241), a domestic cylinder at Rs2,751 (from Rs2,838), and a commercial cylinder at Rs10,583 (from Rs10,920). The consumer price for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder falls Rs87.71 to Rs2,750.60 (from Rs2,838.31), a 3.1% drop or Rs7.51 per kilogram, driven by a 4.29% reduction in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP), despite a 0.47% rupee depreciation. The producer base price dips from Rs199,234.49 per ton to Rs191,802.01 per ton—a Rs7,432.48 cut.

This relief targets millions of low- and middle-income households in unpiped gas areas, effective July 1, 2025. Web context highlights Pakistan’s energy cost pressures (e.g., 20% tariff hikes, web ID: 0), while posts found on X show gratitude—some welcome relief, others question sustainability. Critically, the narrative of “consumer support” may mask energy sector strain—web data points to import reliance, and X sentiment suggests distrust in long-term stability, hinting at underlying issues.
