SECP’s 3,278 New Companies Signal Pakistan’s Economic Surge

In a briefing, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) announced the registration of 3,278 new companies in August 2025, signaling robust investor confidence in Pakistan’s corporate landscape. An impressive 99.9% of these registrations were completed digitally, elevating the total number of registered companies to 265,587, with a combined paid-up capital of Rs7.74 billion. Private limited companies dominated, accounting for 59% of new incorporations, followed by single-member companies at 39%, while 4% included public unlisted companies, not-for-profit organizations, and limited liability partnerships.

The Information Technology and e-commerce sectors led the charge with 670 new companies, trailed by trading (413), services (394), and real estate development and construction (297). Other thriving sectors included tourism and transport (242), food and beverages (185), education (150), mining and quarrying (77), textiles (76), pharmaceuticals (69), cosmetics and toiletries (66), marketing and advertisement (65), agricultural farming and engineering (49 each), chemical (48), and healthcare (44). Additionally, 383 companies spanned sectors like fuel and energy, non-profits, auto and allied, power generation, steel, sports, logging, and communications.

Foreign investment surged, with 78 new companies drawing international capital. The SECP also issued 37 licenses across regulatory domains, including five in capital markets, four to non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), and 28 to not-for-profit associations.

The SECP launched a bold awareness campaign to champion the perks of company incorporation, emphasizing limited liability, enhanced credibility, and smoother access to finance. The regulator is dedicated to fortifying its digital infrastructure and streamlining processes to nurture entrepreneurship, attract investment, and drive sustainable economic growth.
