The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government unveiled its ambitious five-year business development plan 2025-30, targeting the province’s looming energy challenges while ramping up revenue through hydropower electricity sales to the national grid and open market. The blueprint also charts pathways for monetizing power from the province’s indigenous resources and ongoing projects.
The high-profile launch unfolded at the PEDO – Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization House in Peshawar, in partnership with SEED, a premier energy sector consulting firm. Key attendees included Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Engineer Tariq Sadozai, Secretary Energy & Power Zubair Khan, Special Secretary Ahmed Zeb, CEO PEDO Engineer Habibullah Shah, SEED representatives Sohail Zaidi and Osama, alongside other officials and staff.
Special Assistant Tariq Sadozai hailed the initiative as a transformative milestone for the province’s energy sector, empowering the sale of electricity from completed and ongoing PEDO projects via direct open-market supply, national grid transactions, and the innovative wheeling model, all while supercharging provincial revenue.
CEO PEDO Engineer Habibullah Shah and SEED representative Sohail Zaidi underscored the plan’s pivotal role in financing future energy projects and facilitating tariff revisions for power from existing plants. The event culminated with SEED formally transferring the polished energy plan documents to the Special Assistant, Secretary Energy, and CEO PEDO.
