PM Waives August Power Bills for Flood Victims

On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled a bold relief measure for flood-affected citizens, ordering electricity distribution companies to halt the collection of August 2025 power bills in disaster-stricken regions with immediate effect.

Leading a high-level meeting, the premier declared that a robust relief package for electricity consumers in these areas would be finalized following discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He further mandated that any August bills already paid would be adjusted in the next billing cycle.

In response, Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmad Leghari lauded the prime minister, hailing the decision as a timely and people-centric initiative.

“Electricity bills for August have been entirely waived for consumers in flood-hit regions, and any collected amounts will be refunded,” Leghari affirmed, emphasizing that the Power Division would ensure swift implementation of the directive.

This relief package offers vital support to tens of thousands of families grappling with severe economic and infrastructural losses caused by catastrophic floods.
