TCP Tenders 100,000 Tons of Sugar Imports

TCP Tenders 100,000 Tons of Sugar Imports

| 16-Sep-2025

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has launched a fresh international tender to procure 100,000 metric tons of white refined sugar, setting a deadline for price offers on September 23.

According to reports, this follows TCP’s recent acquisition of a comparable medium-grade sugar volume last week, estimated at $560 per ton, cost and freight (c&f) included, with Bare, a trading house, believed to be the seller.

This tender is part of a series of sugar purchases by TCP in recent months, including tenders floated in July, August, and September.

Traders estimate that approximately 235,000 tons have already been secured, with additional figures expected to surface soon. The government has authorized the import of 500,000 tons of sugar to curb escalating retail prices nationwide.

The latest tender solicits offers for fine, small, and medium-grade sugar, with shipments mandated to arrive by November 7. The sugar can be sourced globally, excluding India, Israel, and other sanctioned countries.

This tender, alongside prior purchases, aligns with Pakistan’s strategy to ensure sugar availability and maintain price stability amid surging domestic demand.
